Leading an assembly to the whole school, we learned how Max got into kart racing

Fresh from an incredible first place position at The Champion’s Winter Trophy race at Genk, Belgium, we were both privileged and delighted to welcome 10-year-old go-kart racer, Max Jolly into School this term. Max, from Darlington, has quickly risen through the ranks in the competitive world of motorsports, achieving significant milestones in just 18 months. Leading an assembly to the whole school, we learned how Max got into kart racing and about the resilient and dedicated mindset he has; to be the best he can be at his sport.

Engaging with each and every pupil, Max wowed his audience with how he manages his lifestyle, mindset and finding time for ‘normal’ life.

Below is a snapshot of some of the questions the Froebelian children asked.

Q: What’s the fastest you’ve ever been?

A: 65mph

Q: What do you have to do to prepare for a race?

A: I never eat sweets and I also make sure I warm up, keep hydrated, eat healthily, get plenty of sleep and go to the gym every day.

Q: What’s your favourite food?

Q: How does it feel to race?

A: Well, you need strong arms for the corners and a strong neck for the G-force, there’s a lot of science and politics involved.
